"Got a lot of things I got to do" Mos Def + Talib KweliBeen a while.
Very exciting the culture shocks experienced I mean. Hotels and House-holds do not have blankets as it it very hot -- sheets get used and nets to guard against mosquito's. Most frames round the house aren't glass they are very compacted nets to counter heat and yet block mozis.
They have lots of fruit as expected. When walking through town you find a bed of fruit and veg along the sides near the markets types like; wild pear, litchi with long tentacles, large sized -avocados, papaya, mango and real over sized BANANAS.
I tasted a Bongo some bitter - sweet - sour -fruit like granadilla/passion fruit + mango and lemon in one taste. awakens the taste buds like the pallet neva experienced before...
I drank out of a coconut cup clear H20 and u may instantly chew into the inner part where the coconut is amazing still when nature filters to such purity I guess like a spring water will always amaze me.
I did not tell u how I got sea sick on my way to Zanzibar enough said.
I had the guts to taste deep fried bananas once was enough see I saw the big frying pot lots of oil that - turned me off.
I tasted local Pap finally it was alright almost like home. Most folk eat rice. Good bread rare to find. The fresh sea food I am diggin/lovin, octopus, prawns, all kinda fish.
Some places are so congested here Ben Schoeman or the N1 bumper to bumper ain't seen nothing yet, that's cause there is very few (ONE WAY) s mostly happens on intersections cause it's trafficircles at most. Dual road/two lanes become one as the impatient ones do it S.A Taxi style- they use the on coming lane as a throughway's.
No right of way to one already in circle if I see fit I press on into the circle yet I ain't seen an accident where cars collided.
But I witnessed a guy get hit by a car that turned the opposite direction from the direction guided by an officer-who controlled traffic. This happened where cars are forced or must come to a stand stil and remain that way until a head of state drives through. Cops will be waiting meters on end acting as traffic signals and no one drives on the road until the head of state gets into to his vehicle and his entourage for almost a kilometer ahead. I guarantee no car will drive unless it's a state vehicle on the same entourage else deal with the consequences.
My last letter on this trip see you soon.

Have been all round Stone Town beautiful ancient Islamic Architecture, resturants are stylish attract good business, open till late for a very dark town, regardless they use candles, that old type lighting, the market is open till late also with each stall havin an idividual lamb. Fish dishes I really enjoy most when I am out here in Tanzania. They experiment enough had a BBQ Sword fish + avocado + spinach garnish today. Over the weekend catch of the day, whole fish by the beach served with their staple starch rice - they prepare well. Place is filled with tourists they over shadow the locals especially @ nite locals hardly seen roming late at attractive spots unless by the main road walking late where from need to find out, on a bicycle, or with bright lights drivin as if it's a dizzy fly with cars that are not aligned well. Yo so much for tired old me, please I will go on it don't stop... |
